Through
,
insurance companies, third party administrators and group health
claim payers now have access to a nationwide panel of pharmacies
offering significant discounts on prescription drugs and
durable medical equipment.
This new program is initiated by the claims professional at time of notification of accident. The claims professional issues a pharmacy card to the claimant that can be used at thousands of pharmacies across the country. The claimant will have an incentive to use a participating pharmacy as there are no out-of-pocket costs for eligible prescriptions. Of course, the claimant can use any pharmacy he or she wishes, even a non-participating pharmacy.
To protect against fraud and abuse the claimant will not be able to use the card to fill a prescription that is not directly related to the specific injury without prior authorization from the prescription benefit manager and/or the claims professional.
Prescription drug programs can be custom designed for Group Health, Workers' Compensation and Auto/General liability plans.
